COOKIE POLICY
Cookie Policy
Last updated: 28 July 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Oskalon ("we", "us", "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on oskalon.com (the "Website"). It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device so it can remember information about your visit. Similar technologies — local storage, session storage, and tracking scripts — are used for the same purposes. In this policy, "cookies" covers all of them.
2. How we use cookies
We use cookies to:
- keep the Website secure and working correctly,
- remember your language and interface preferences,
- understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it.
We do not sell cookie data and we do not use cookies to build advertising profiles.
3. Categories of cookies we use
Our consent banner groups cookies into four categories. You can accept or reject each category (other than strictly necessary) when you first visit, and change your choice at any time from the Cookie Preferences link.
3.1 Strictly necessary cookies
Required for the Website to function. They cannot be switched off.
| Name | Purpose | Provider | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| cookie_consent | Stores your cookie preference choices | Oskalon (first-party) | 12 months |
| NEXT_LOCALE | Remembers your selected language (English or Serbian) | Oskalon (first-party) | 12 months |
| Keycloak session cookies (e.g. KEYCLOAK_SESSION, AUTH_SESSION_ID, KC_RESTART) | Sign-in and session security for the administrative area | Oskalon (first-party, via self-hosted Keycloak) | Session or short-lived |
Because these cookies are strictly necessary for the service you have requested, we do not ask for consent to use them.
3.2 Functional cookies
Enable enhanced features such as remembering language and interface preferences across visits. If disabled, some parts of the site may not behave as expected.
| Name | Purpose | Provider | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| NEXT_LOCALE (persistent use) | Persists language preference across sessions | Oskalon (first-party) | 12 months |
| UI preference storage | Stores non-essential interface settings in the browser | Oskalon (first-party) | Session or 12 months |
3.3 Analytics cookies
Only set if you accept them. Help us understand how visitors use the Website — which pages are viewed, how people arrive, and what to improve.
| Name / Prefix | Purpose | Provider | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| _pk_id.* | Distinguishes unique visitors | Matomo, self-hosted by Oskalon at umarell.oskalon.com | 13 months |
| _pk_ses.* | Groups actions into a single visit | Matomo (self-hosted) | 30 minutes |
| _pk_ref.* | Records the traffic source that brought you to the site | Matomo (self-hosted) | 6 months |
| _pk_cvar.* | Stores custom variables for the current visit | Matomo (self-hosted) | Session |
| PostHog identifiers (e.g. ph_*_posthog) and related local/session storage | Product analytics — page views, feature usage, contact-form interactions | PostHog (posthog.com) | Up to 12 months |
Matomo runs on our own infrastructure, so data collected through Matomo does not leave Oskalon's servers. PostHog is a third-party processor; see PostHog's privacy statement for details on how it handles data.
3.4 Marketing cookies
We do not currently use marketing or advertising cookies. This category is kept in our consent tool so that, if we ever add such cookies, you can control them. We will update this policy and ask again for your consent before enabling any.
4. Third-party services that may set cookies
- PostHog — product analytics, only if you accept analytics cookies.
- Keycloak (self-hosted) — identity and single sign-on for the site's administrative area.
- Nextcloud appointments — if you book a meeting through the site, the embedded booking widget may set its own session cookies on its own domain.
We are not responsible for third parties' own cookie use; please check their respective policies.
5. Managing your preferences
- Cookie banner. On your first visit, our banner lets you Accept All, Reject All, or Customize by category.
- Change your mind. You can revisit your choices at any time via the Cookie Preferences link in the site footer.
- Browser controls. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies from their settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent parts of the Website from working.
- Do Not Track. There is no agreed standard for handling the "Do Not Track" signal, so we do not currently respond to it; the controls above give you more precise choices.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the tools we use or in applicable law. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when the current version took effect. Significant changes will be communicated through the cookie banner.
